As we stand at the juncture where the past meets the present, there's a powerful narrative that emerges, one shaped by lessons learned, challenges faced and growth achieved. The year 2023, etched in the archives of My Thick Accent, has been a chapter of discovery in respect and evolution. In this special episode, I want to share with you five profound lessons that have woven themselves into the fabric of this transformative year for me. Each interview, every conversation and the collective wisdom gained have paved the way for these insights. Join me in unraveling five lessons from 2023 as we navigate the intricate dance between experience and enlightenment. So the first one is count your blessings. I cannot stress enough on this count your blessings. So, reflecting on the journey, I have learnt the importance of gratitude amidst the challenges, countless blessings have become a source of strength and resilience for me and also helps me ground in the positive aspects of things. And I say that because look around that what's happening in the world right now, and especially when you are also doom-scrolling and you tend to compare your life with other people, you really forget that what you are really blessed with, and so it's important to keep that in mind and be grateful what you are already have. Second, don't be surprised that people for not believing in your vision. See, it's the truth. Not everybody will share your vision, and that's okay. It's absolutely okay. And accepting this truth has allowed me to focus on those who do believe in it, and it has also helped me foster a community that resonate with my mission and values. For example, this podcast. You guys, you listeners, you believe in my vision Outside of this podcasting career, even if I have certain ideologies, certain beliefs, and if somebody doesn't believe in that, I don't have to explain them all the time. If they don't believe in it, it's absolutely okay. As long as I believe in it, that's enough, you are enough. So, yeah, please don't be surprised at people for not believing in your vision.
Gurasis:Number three happiness is a choice you make, see. Happiness is not merely a reaction to circumstances. In fact, it's a conscious decision. In podcasting and in life, choosing joy, even amidst the challenges, has been a guiding principle for me and it has helped me shape a positive outlook on every situation I come across. And I know it's hard, it's very hard, to find happiness in certain situations that might come your way, or especially for the people who are immigrants, you know, who are away from their families, especially during these holidays. You know these festive times and New Year's. I know it's hard and not it's not unlimited to that. Even with you want more money, you want to buy a few certain things and you want to do so much in your life. You want to travel again once. Coming back to my previous point, you tend to compare your life and you think that that is going to give you happiness. No, it's a choice that you make.
Gurasis:Number four don't shy away from embracing your gifts. See, I have mentioned this throughout the year in various episodes in 2023, that we all have been blessed with this divine combination of gifts, passions and experiences that no one, no one else, can claim from you, and I think it's important to embrace those unique talents and gifts. And I do that. I try to do that by embracing my unique strengths and talents and as well as those of my guests, and it has been transformative. It's a reminder that authenticity is a powerful, very powerful force, and it also helps you to drive connection and resonance, especially like in this podcasting space that I am in right now. So I would encourage you guys to also embrace your gifts and I would say initially, start recognizing your gifts and then start embracing your gifts.
Gurasis:And the final one, the fifth one and probably my favorite, which is there is so much peace in knowing that you will not miss out on what's meant for you. See, trusting in the timing of opportunities has brought immense peace to me, recognizing that what's meant for me will find its way, whether in podcasting or in life. And it has been grounding and reassuring realization that what's meant for me will come to me. It might take a longer, it might come earlier, and if I start once again comparing that, the other person has had it before me or maybe you have that fear of missing out. Oh, my God, I'm not in that certain space, so I don't have the certain resources, I will miss it out, or I don't get that job, or I didn't get that certain opportunity. Well, if it was meant for you, you would have got it. So I think I am really taking this thought even in the year 2024, that there is so much peace in knowing that you will not miss out on what's meant for you. So, on that note, guys, these were the five lessons I learned from the year 2023. I hope you guys do the same and reflect on your ear, if you can and know that what you really have to bring to the next year.
Gurasis:That's all, guys, and I think I am thankful to you for listening to this this far and thank you for being part of this community, and I'll see you guys very soon, in the year 2024, for the season two, and I have mentioned it a couple of times now, reach out to me if you have any suggestions, questions or any comments you might have.
